German French American and Irish

Irish Soda Bread

Combine: 1 c. vacuum packed wheat germ
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. unbleached flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Cut in with a fork, 1/2 c. butter
Add 1 cup buttermilk, mixing lightly with a fork.
Knead on floured surface briefly (about a minute or less)
Turn dough into greased (or Pam-sprayed) loaf pan.
Bake @ 425* for an hour, or until center of bread tests "done."
